Weekly Blood Glucose Management Summary

This week's blood glucose management resulted in an average glucose level of 196 mg/dL and a Time in Range (TIR) of 40.9%. TIR represents the percentage of time that blood glucose levels remained within the target range of 70 to 180 mg/dL. While there were some relatively stable days in the first half of the week, and a temporary low blood glucose level (67 mg/dL) on Sunday, overall, I consider the ability to avoid severe hypoglycemia a positive point.

On the other hand, average blood glucose levels tended to rise toward the end of the week, with high blood glucose levels particularly concerning after dinner and from nighttime to early morning. Next week, while consulting with my primary care physician about meal content and insulin adjustment, I would like to work positively toward achieving gentler fluctuations.

Weekly Trend Analysis

Looking at the weekly trend report in Image 0, this week's average blood glucose level was 196 mg/dL, and the TIR was 40.9%. The CV (coefficient of variation), which indicates the variability in blood glucose levels, was 32.5%, showing a certain degree of daily fluctuation. The highest glucose level was 365 mg/dL recorded on Wednesday at 22:30, and the lowest was 67 mg/dL recorded on Sunday at 11:00. Note that comparison data with the previous week and the GMI (Glucose Management Indicator) could not be confirmed from this image.

On the positive side, during the first half of the week (the 16th to the 18th), there were times when the graph stayed within the target range (inside the green dotted lines) for a significant period, maintaining good control. However, toward the second half, the number of plots indicating high blood glucose in yellow and red increased, which was likely influenced by changes in daily routines.

Daily Summary Analysis

Let's review the characteristics of each day of the week from the daily summary in Image 1. The best day of the week was Monday (August 17), with a daily average blood glucose level of 143 mg/dL and a maximum level kept down to 202 mg/dL, showing an overall flat and calm trend. This suggests that the meal balance was good and physical activity was moderate on this day.

Conversely, significant blood glucose fluctuations and prominent hyperglycemia were observed on Friday (average 236 mg/dL) and Saturday (average 235 mg/dL). Accumulated fatigue toward the weekend or changes in dinner portion sizes and timing may have contributed to the persistent high blood glucose overnight. On Wednesday (August 19), there was also a sharp spike up to a maximum of 365 mg/dL, suggesting the impact of meal content or snacks.

AGP Analysis

The AGP (Ambulatory Glucose Profile) in Image 2 overlays data from multiple days into a 24-hour period to visualize trends in blood glucose levels by time of day. Looking at the trend of the median (dark blue line), which is the 50% baseline, sharp peaks occur around 9:00 AM and especially after 21:00 PM, indicating a clear tendency for blood glucose to rise significantly after dinner.

Additionally, during the night (00:00 to 06:00), the median remained high, exceeding 200 mg/dL, and the daily fluctuation range (the light blue band) was also wide. This suggests that the impact of the previous night's dinner may have carried over into the following morning. On the other hand, from around 12:00 to 15:00 during the day, blood glucose levels remained relatively low and stable. Overall, the risk of falling into hypoglycemia (below 70 mg/dL) appears to be low.

What Went Well This Week

  • Although there was a temporary low blood glucose level (67 mg/dL) on Sunday morning, I was able to manage safely afterward without falling into severe hypoglycemia.
  • On Monday (August 17), I achieved highly stable blood glucose control close to my target, with an average of 143 mg/dL.
  • During the daytime hours (around 12:00 to 15:00), blood glucose levels were generally calm and maintained a favorable trend.
  • I consistently recorded my blood glucose data every day, allowing me to understand my body's tendencies through reflection.

Areas for Improvement Next Week

  • To stabilize blood glucose levels from after dinner through the night (21:00 to early the next morning), when hunger is particularly likely to strike, I will try adjusting the carbohydrate amount in my dinner, the order of eating, and the timing of insulin.
  • Since there was a tendency for average blood glucose levels to rise in the latter half of the week, I will be mindful of fatigue and stress management on weekends and strive to maintain regular meal times.
  • Because the coefficient of variation (CV) for blood glucose was slightly high at 32.5%, I will try to keep daily food intake and activity levels as constant as possible to narrow the range of daily fluctuations.

Conclusion

Through this week's reflection, my blood glucose patterns and time-of-day challenges have become very clear. Although slightly high values continued in the second half of the week, there were days when excellent control was achieved with some minor adjustments. Rather than being overly affected by daily ups and downs, I want to continue managing my levels at my own comfortable pace, thinking positively and enjoying the process of "how should I adjust next time?" I will take it one step at a time, without rushing, to stay healthy next week as well!
