Weekly Blood Glucose Management Summary

Looking back at my blood glucose management this week, the overall evaluation is that my TIR (Time in Range), which indicates the percentage of time my blood glucose was within the target range, was 68.3%, maintaining a level close to the target of 70%. In particular, having days like Tuesday and Friday where the levels remained relatively stable throughout the day gives me a lot of confidence.

On the other hand, a point of concern was the temporary sharp spikes in blood glucose (hyperglycemic tendencies) observed during Wednesday morning and late Saturday night. This suggests there is room for improvement in the content and timing of my meals, or how I spend my relaxing time during weekends. Next week, I want to proactively work on suppressing these spikes even slightly to aim for a more stable trend!

Let's take a closer look at this week's weekly trends. The average blood glucose level for the week was 159 mg/dL, and the TIR (Time in Range), which represents the percentage of time blood glucose stayed within the target range (generally 70–180 mg/dL), was 68.3%. I feel that I achieved a decent result, being just one step away from the 70% target. The CV (Coefficient of Variation), which indicates the degree of blood glucose variability, was 27.9%, and I am very pleased to have comfortably cleared the target of less than 36%, which is generally considered the benchmark for stability.

The minimum blood glucose level this week was 81 mg/dL on Wednesday, and no clear signs of hypoglycemia (below 70 mg/dL) were observed in the image. This provides peace of mind that safe management is being achieved. On the other hand, the maximum blood glucose level reached 325 mg/dL late Saturday night, showing a temporary spike in blood glucose toward the end of the week. Please note that comparison data with the previous week and GMI (Glucose Management Indicator, estimated HbA1c) could not be confirmed from this image.

Daily Summary Analysis

Looking back at the daily trends, there were characteristic patterns depending on the day of the week. The best and most stable day this week was Tuesday (June 23), with an average blood glucose level of 137 mg/dL and the maximum peak kept down to 207 mg/dL. This suggests that meal choices and the timing of exercise worked exceptionally well on this day. Friday (June 26) was also a relatively calm day, averaging 147 mg/dL.

Conversely, the days with the greatest blood glucose fluctuations were Wednesday (June 24) and Saturday (June 27). On Wednesday, after temporarily rising to 293 mg/dL in the morning, there was a sharp drop to the week's lowest level of 81 mg/dL just after 2:00 PM. It is possible that the amount of carbohydrates at breakfast and subsequent activity levels played a role. On Saturday, although the daytime was relatively stable, blood glucose spiked to 325 mg/dL towards 11:59 PM. This may have been driven by letting my guard down on a weekend night and consuming high-carb meals or snacks late at night.

AGP Analysis

Using the AGP (Ambulatory Glucose Profile, a graph overlaying daily fluctuation patterns), I analyzed the characteristics of each 24-hour time slot. First, regarding nighttime stability, the median (dark blue line) trended between 140 and 180 mg/dL from midnight to 6:00 AM. While there were no extreme fluctuations, the levels generally trended on the slightly higher side.

As for the risk of hypoglycemia, even looking at the 5th percentile line at the very bottom of the graph, it did not fall below the green baseline (70 mg/dL), indicating that the risk is very low during both nighttime and daytime. The periods where postprandial spikes were noticeable include around 9:00 AM, between 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM, and after 9:00 PM. In particular, around 9:00 AM and 2:00 PM, the shaded area of the graph (representing day-to-day variability) widens significantly vertically, showing that the rise in blood glucose varies greatly from day to day. Since the fluctuation range may change depending on activity levels even with the same menu, this could be a clue to reviewing the balance between daytime meals and activity.

What Went Well This Week

  • Maintaining a TIR (Time in Range) of 68.3%, just one step away from the 70% target.
  • Achieving a CV (Coefficient of Variation) of 27.9%, which comfortably cleared the target threshold of less than 36%.
  • Spending the week safely without experiencing any hypoglycemia below 70 mg/dL.
  • Creating an extremely stable day like Tuesday, keeping the average blood glucose level down to 137 mg/dL.

Areas for Improvement for Next Week

  • Being mindful of dinner timing and content to prevent sudden nighttime spikes like the one seen on Saturday night.

  • Establishing a habit of light stretching or walking after dinner to help lower blood glucose levels from nighttime to early morning, which have been slightly high overall.
  • Being conscious of the balance between activity levels and meals during times of day when fluctuations tend to widen (around 9:00 AM and 2:00 PM).

A particularly positive aspect of this week was that my blood glucose levels remained very stable during the first half of the week (Monday and Tuesday). On the other hand, there were times when my blood glucose ran high during the latter half of the week and in the afternoon, highlighting some areas of concern regarding the balance between my activity levels and diet. Although a concrete numerical comparison with the previous week could not be confirmed from the image, visually tracking these daily changes has helped me gradually identify patterns in my daily routine. I want to continue enjoying my routine next week while aiming for gentler, steadier control within a comfortable range!

A major feature during the day is that the median glucose level (dark blue line) rises significantly above 180 mg/dL between 14:00 and 18:00, which is likely a noticeable post-lunch effect. For hyperglycemia risks, this late afternoon period as well as the rise after 23:00 late at night are areas of concern. On the other hand, regarding hypoglycemia risk (less than 70 mg/dL), the 5th percentile line (the bottom light blue boundary) temporarily drops below the target line around 15:00 on some days, suggesting a need for caution against sudden drops due to physical activity.   • Securing Time in Range (TIR): I spent more than half of the week (58.6%) within the target range, showing that my daily efforts are paying off.
