This Week's Blood Glucose Management Summary

Overall, this was a very well-managed week, with the Time in Range (TIR) reaching 81.3%, significantly exceeding the target of 70%. The average blood glucose level was also stable at 147 mg/dL. I am absolutely delighted to see that my daily small efforts are translating into concrete results.

However, there was a point of concern in the latter half of the week, particularly during the early hours of Thursday, when my blood glucose temporarily spiked to 331 mg/dL. While this might have been caused by the timing or content of the previous night's dinner, the week was otherwise peaceful without any major disruptions. I feel like giving myself a well-deserved pat on the back.

Next week, I hope to maintain this positive momentum while introducing some adjustments to better stabilize my overnight blood glucose levels, aiming for an even more comfortable daily routine.

Weekly Trend Analysis

Glucose Chart 0

Looking at the weekly trend report in Image 0, the average blood glucose level for this week was 147 mg/dL. The most rewarding part was that the Time in Range (TIR), which indicates the percentage of time spent within the target glucose range, reached 81.3%. This is well above the recommended benchmark of 70%, showing a trend where daily efforts are bearing fruit.

The Coefficient of Variation (CV), which indicates blood glucose variability (the magnitude of fluctuations), was 35.7%. Since a CV of less than 36% is generally considered the benchmark for stable blood glucose, it suggests that my levels were managed with relatively gentle fluctuations this week. Please note that GMI (Glucose Management Indicator) and comparison data with the previous week could not be confirmed from this image. Overall, avoiding extreme hypoglycemia (with a minimum value of 69 mg/dL) and spending the week safely was a major achievement.

Daily Summary Analysis

Glucose Chart 1

Let's look back at the daily characteristics using the daily summary in Image 1. The best day of this week was Tuesday, July 14, which recorded an excellent average blood glucose level of 116 mg/dL. The graph's curve was also very gentle, suggesting that the balance of meals and physical activity aligned perfectly throughout the day.

On the other hand, the day with the greatest blood glucose fluctuation was Thursday, July 16. The average blood glucose rose to 203 mg/dL, and around 2:30 AM, it recorded the week's highest value of 331 mg/dL. This was likely because the blood glucose spiked late the previous night (Wednesday) and remained high until dawn. Since late-night dinners or overnight snacks may have had an impact, this serves as an important insight for reflecting on daily habits.

AGP Analysis

Glucose Chart 2

Let's take a closer look at the AGP (Ambulatory Glucose Profile: a graph that overlays several days of data onto a 24-hour scale to analyze trends) in Image 2. Looking at the 24-hour trend (the dark blue median line), levels are relatively stable between 100 and 150 mg/dL during the day, but tend to rise close to 190 mg/dL between 14:00 and 16:00. This is likely due to the postprandial spike from lunch.

Regarding overnight stability, the light blue band on the graph (the 95% range indicating variability) expands significantly upward during the night (00:00 to 06:00). This indicates that overnight hyperglycemia (over 250 mg/dL) occurred on some days, showing large day-to-day variations. Regarding hypoglycemia risk, although there are times when levels temporarily dipped close to 70 mg/dL, the median line remained consistently within the target range, suggesting that the overall risk is low.

What Went Well This Week

  • Time in Range (TIR) reached 81.3%, comfortably exceeding the target benchmark of 70%
  • The Coefficient of Variation (CV), indicating blood glucose variability, stayed under the 36% stability benchmark at 35.7%
  • Had a highly stable and ideal day on Tuesday, July 14, with an average of 116 mg/dL
  • Navigated the week safely without experiencing any extreme hypoglycemia

Areas for Improvement for Next Week

  • Try eating dinner earlier to prevent overnight hyperglycemia like the one observed in the early hours of Thursday
  • Adopt a "vegetables first" eating order and light post-meal exercise to moderate the post-lunch blood glucose rise between 14:00 and 16:00
  • Reduce the daily overnight blood glucose variability (the width of the AGP band) to maintain stable control during sleep
  • Avoid snacking before bedtime, or establish a habit of swapping snacks for low-carb options if needed

Summary

This week was a rewarding one, as daily efforts clearly showed in the results, with the Time in Range (TIR) exceeding 80%. Although there were times when blood glucose levels temporarily spiked, looking back objectively through reports like this allows us to positively plan, "Let's try this next time!" Let's not strive for perfection, but instead take care of our bodies and continue enjoying our health management journey step by step next week!
