[EN] Type 1 Diabetes Diaries: My Go-To Hack for Preventing Blood Sugar Crashes

As evening approached, my blood sugar started to dip, and I began feeling those familiar signs of mild hypoglycemia—a bit of restlessness and some shakiness in my hands. Thankfully, popping a few Ramune candies early on saved me from a major crash. With the hot summer months ahead, melted snacks in my bag are always a worry, but Ramune candies are totally melt-proof and perfect to carry around! Best of all, my blood sugar rose much more gently than expected, stabilizing beautifully afterward. What a relief!

[Quick Summary]

  • Just after 4:30 PM, my blood sugar dipped to 74 mg/dL, and I started feeling the first signs of a low.
  • Eating three large Morinaga Ramune candies gave my blood sugar a gentle boost of about 37 mg/dL.
  • After treating the low, my blood sugar peaked around 111 mg/dL just after 5 PM, and then stabilized incredibly smoothly.

[The Data: Tracking the Ramune Effect]

  • Around 4:30 PM, you can clearly see the line dropping to 74 mg/dL, right on the edge of the green dotted line.
  • After eating the three Ramune candies at 4:50 PM, the graph curved up beautifully to form a gentle, steady slope.
  • With no sudden spikes, it smoothly returned to a stable range in the 80s (mg/dL) by 5:30 PM.
